At what age do freckles typically begin to appear?
Disease description:
I’ve noticed some spots appearing on my skin—brown patches, but I’m not sure when they first appeared. At what age do freckles typically begin to develop?
Freckles typically first appear between the ages of 3 and 5 years and gradually increase in number with age. They most commonly occur on the face, presenting as round or oval lesions that range in color from light to dark brown. Freckle development is primarily attributed to two factors: genetic predisposition and sun exposure. Generally, freckles do not require treatment, as they pose no threat to physical health; however, they may affect cosmetic appearance. For aesthetic concerns, treatments such as laser therapy or cryotherapy may be considered.
