Can bromhidrosis be cured?
Disease description:
Female, 19 years old; has familial bromhidrosis. Has been consistently using medication as prescribed by her physician. May bromhidrosis be cured?
Fox odor (bromhidrosis) is a common skin condition, often inherited genetically within families. Although numerous treatment options exist, none offer a definitive cure. Treatment should be tailored to the individual’s specific symptoms to alleviate the impact of axillary odor on others. Available treatments for axillary bromhidrosis include local injection of botulinum toxin type A, surgical excision of apocrine glands, minimally invasive surgery, and laser therapy.
