What causes thirst despite normal blood glucose levels?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing excessive thirst for the past week. I visited the hospital and had my blood glucose tested, which came back normal—so why am I still feeling thirsty despite having normal blood sugar levels?
Thirst despite normal blood glucose levels may result from consuming “heat-inducing” foods—such as chili peppers or hotpot—which can trigger thirst. However, underlying medical conditions—including Sjögren’s syndrome—cannot be ruled out. If persistent thirst continues, prompt medical evaluation is recommended. In daily life, opt for light, easily digestible foods; increase fluid intake; and consume more fresh vegetables and fruits.
