Dr. He Haochen
Palpitations generally do not cause myocardial ischemia. Palpitations and myocardial ischemia are symptoms resulting from distinct underlying conditions. Palpitations are commonly caused by disorders such as ventricular premature contractions, atrial flutter, or Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome; following palpitations, patients may experience secondary symptoms including insomnia and edema. In contrast, myocardial ischemia is typically associated with conditions like diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, or hypertension, and may manifest as chest tightness, chest pain, and other related symptoms.
