I recently bought some mangoes, but one of them has developed black spots. Is it still safe to eat a mango with black spots on its skin?

Black spots on mango skin are not always safe for consumption; their suitability depends on the specific appearance of the spots. If only a few black spots are present on the mango’s outer skin—resulting from minor discoloration of epidermal cells—they generally do not affect edibility. However, if the black spots have penetrated into the flesh, the mango should not be consumed, as doing so may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea after ingestion.
