Patients with lumbar disc herniation should not use hula hoops. They should pay attention to their posture during daily labor and avoid activities that may injure the intervertebral discs, especially under conditions of physiological degenerative changes. Proper occupational protection is essential. Correcting poor working postures—such as prolonged forward flexion of the neck or excessive lifting—is critical to prevent accelerated disc degeneration. Patients should rest frequently on a firm mattress and maintain a neutral spinal alignment (i.e., keeping the lumbar spine and back in a straight, horizontal line) while lying down; twisting movements should be avoided, and soft mattresses should be avoided to reduce mechanical stress on the intervertebral discs. It is important to stay warm, avoid exposure to cold, and refrain from consuming excessive cold or raw foods. Strengthening lumbar and back support—including wearing a lumbar brace—and performing functional exercises under a physician’s guidance are also recommended.
