Folliculitis on the scrotum in females is typically treated with topical ointments under a physician’s guidance—such as mupirocin ointment, fusidic acid cream, or erythromycin cream—which help reduce inflammation and relieve itching. Scrotal folliculitis is commonly caused by bacterial infection, leading to the appearance of deep-red, rice-grain-sized papules at the affected site, often with white pustular heads and associated pruritus and pain. If itching is particularly severe, oral anti-inflammatory antibiotics—such as amoxicillin capsules or roxithromycin tablets—may be prescribed as adjunctive therapy. Additionally, patients should wear breathable, loose-fitting underwear and clean the genital area daily with warm water.
