How to Treat Tinea Corporis (Ringworm)
Disease description:
I have some ringworm (tinea corporis) on my arms, which significantly affects my appearance. I’d like to get it treated—how is ringworm treated?
Dermatophytosis (tinea corporis), also known as nummular eczema, is caused by chronic inflammatory reactions; treatment methods vary depending on the disease stage. For acute exudative cases, wet compresses with boric acid solution may be used to suppress exudation. For subacute or chronic nummular eczema, topical corticosteroid ointments—such as mometasone furoate ointment or clobetasol propionate ointment—may be prescribed under a physician’s guidance to improve symptoms.
