What Causes Peeling Skin on a Baby’s Hands and Feet?
Disease description:
While bathing my baby, I noticed peeling skin on their hands and feet. I’d like to know what causes peeling skin on infants’ hands and feet.
Peeling of the hands and feet in infants is commonly caused by their rapid metabolic rate, but it may also result from eczema.
When peeling occurs due to a rapid metabolic rate, topical applications such as vitamin E ointment, paeonol ointment, or zinc oxide ointment may be used.
If peeling is attributable to eczema, topical antifungal medications are required—for example, ketoconazole cream, clotrimazole ointment, or terbinafine gel.
