How long can a patient live after undergoing total cystectomy and urinary diversion with a urostomy bag?
Disease description:
Recently, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and underwent a complete cystectomy. I would like to know how long patients can live after a total cystectomy with urinary diversion (urinary bag).
The life expectancy of a patient who has undergone radical cystectomy with urinary diversion (e.g., ileal conduit) varies depending on individual circumstances. After surgery, if the patient’s physical condition recovers well and there is no metastasis to other organs—particularly the kidneys—survival time may be prolonged. Conversely, if postoperative recovery is poor and cancer cells have metastasized elsewhere in the body, survival time may be shortened.
