Disease description:

My blood glucose levels have been slightly higher than before recently, and I’ve been managing them on my own. I’d like to know—can I eat an apple in the evening? Specifically, is it safe for someone with elevated blood glucose to eat an apple at night?

Patients with high blood glucose should avoid or limit apple consumption. Whether patients with elevated blood glucose can eat apples depends on how well their blood glucose is controlled. Generally, if blood glucose control is satisfactory, eating an apple in the evening may be acceptable. However, if fasting blood glucose levels rise significantly the following morning after consuming an apple in the evening, apple intake should be reduced or avoided altogether.
