Students undergoing the college entrance examination physical examination must fast (i.e., skip breakfast) if blood glucose testing is required. In general, patients scheduled for routine physical examinations should not eat breakfast. However, for patients with diabetes who require blood glucose monitoring, it is permissible to consume a small amount of food (e.g., one bite of rice) before measuring blood glucose two hours later. Patients are advised to limit intake of sweets in daily life, maintain a light diet, and increase consumption of vegetables and fruits.
