Hazards of Masturbation
Disease description:
May I ask—my son is 25 years old, and he has a habit of frequent masturbation. I would like to know what potential health risks are associated with long-term masturbation.
Hello! Masturbation—also known as autoeroticism—is a self-directed activity used to relieve sexual tension, discharge sexual energy, fulfill one’s sexual needs, and derive pleasure and psychological comfort from sexual stimulation. Masturbation itself is generally harmless; however, excessive or uncontrolled masturbation may adversely affect physical health. What potential harms can excessive masturbation cause?
1. Premature ejaculation: It may damage penile cells and cavernous tissue, leading to heightened penile sensitivity.
2. Urinary tract infections: Such as urethritis or balanoposthitis, often accompanied by symptoms including lower back pain, urinary urgency, frequency, and dysuria.
3. Decreased libido: It may increase glans sensitivity while simultaneously reducing sexual desire, thereby significantly impairing sexual quality of life.
