How to Treat Postpartum Constipation
Disease description:
I am 28 years old and gave birth nearly two months ago. Over the past few days, I have been experiencing constipation—my stools are dry and hard, making them difficult to pass. I would like to know how postpartum constipation is treated.
When constipation occurs postpartum, gently massaging the abdomen in a clockwise direction can help accelerate intestinal motility and relieve constipation. In daily diet, consume more light, easily digestible foods—such as fresh vegetables and fruits—and increase intake of whole grains and coarse cereals. Avoid excessive consumption of raw, cold, greasy, spicy, or otherwise irritating foods. Additionally, cultivate the healthy habit of defecating at the same time each day to facilitate the establishment of a conditioned reflex.
