Disease description:

While sleeping, I touched my scrotum and noticed several small, hard lumps. Pressing on them caused intense pain. I feel embarrassed about going to the hospital for a physical examination, so I’d like to ask: What could cause a painful, hard lump on the scrotum?

When the scrotum is pressed, a small, hard, and tender mass is felt within it. In most cases, this is caused by folliculitis, scrotal eczema, or a sebaceous cyst. Disinfect the affected area with iodophor, then apply an anti-inflammatory ointment and take oral anti-inflammatory medication to control inflammation. Keep the affected area clean, avoid local friction and irritation, refrain from masturbation, and temporarily abstain from sexual activity to prevent symptom exacerbation. Patients are advised to visit a reputable hospital’s urology or andrology department for routine evaluation under the guidance of a physician.
