Can wearing braces cause bad breath?
Disease description:
I have some dental malocclusion and need orthodontic braces for correction. I’m concerned that wearing braces might cause bad breath. Can wearing braces lead to halitosis?
Wearing braces may cause bad breath, as food particles can accumulate between teeth after meals, ferment, and produce oral odor. To prevent bad breath while wearing braces, it is recommended to maintain good oral hygiene habits—rinse your mouth with warm salt water after meals and brush your teeth twice daily (morning and night).
