How long does it take to recover from facial fat grafting?
Disease description:
I recently underwent a fat grafting procedure and am currently in the recovery phase. Doctor, how long does it take to recover from facial fat grafting?
Facial fat grafting typically takes approximately three months to achieve a natural appearance. Within 5–7 days after surgery, patients enter the swelling phase, during which facial edema is prominent and the treated area may feel firm to the touch. During this period, no special interventions are required, and patients should avoid frequent manual massaging or rubbing of the area, as this phase usually resolves spontaneously within about 10 days. Subsequently, the grafted fat gradually softens; significant aesthetic improvement becomes evident within 3 weeks to 1 month after softening occurs. Over the following several weeks, the transplanted fat undergoes partial resorption, and full facial recovery is generally achieved by around 3 months postoperatively.
