Disease description:

Today, my best friend asked me to go with her to the hospital to receive the 9-valent HPV vaccine. However, I just remembered that I have an ovarian cyst and am unsure whether it’s safe for me to get the vaccine. May I ask: Is it safe to receive the 9-valent HPV vaccine if I have an ovarian cyst?

Whether a person with an ovarian cyst can receive the 9-valent HPV vaccine depends on the nature and size of the cyst. In general, if the ovarian cyst is small and benign, administration of the 9-valent HPV vaccine is permissible. However, if the cyst is large and shows signs of malignancy, the 9-valent HPV vaccine is not recommended; even if administered, its efficacy would be minimal. In such cases, prompt medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital are essential.
