Can people with oral ulcers drink cola?
Disease description:
I really want to drink cola, but I’ve developed mouth ulcers due to excessive internal heat—can I still drink cola?
When oral ulcers are particularly severe, it is best to avoid drinking cola, as it can irritate the oral mucosa and exacerbate ulceration and pain. If the discomfort is mild, you may drink cola in very small amounts—but only occasionally, as it is not a healthy beverage and should not be consumed regularly. Patients with oral ulcers should avoid spicy or irritating foods, such as ginger, scallions, and garlic. Additionally, fried and grilled foods should also be avoided.
