Behçet’s disease is a multisystem, multiorgan autoimmune disorder whose primary pathological feature is vasculitis. Its hallmark clinical manifestations include the classic triad of recurrent oral ulcers, uveitis, and genital ulcers; other common features include arthritis, multiple vascular occlusions, and involvement of the skin, gastrointestinal tract, and nervous system. To date, the exact etiology and pathogenesis of Behçet’s disease remain unclear; however, existing research suggests associations with infectious agents and genetic factors.
