How long does it take before the orthopedic pin is removed?
Disease description:
Initially, I felt that my teeth were slightly loose; later, the surrounding bone also became uncomfortable, and any movement caused severe pain. Subsequently, orthodontic mini-implants (bone anchors) were placed. How long after placement should these orthodontic mini-implants be removed?
Assess the patient’s condition. Typically, the device is removed after the interdental spaces have closed, or it is retained for 1–2 months following interproximal space cleaning before removal. The decision should be made comprehensively based on the position of the bone anchor and the patient’s individual circumstances. For internal fixation devices used in ankle fractures, stability is generally achieved 6 months to 1 year after fracture healing. For clavicle fractures, internal fixation may be considered for removal approximately 3–6 months post-healing; however, due to the thin overlying skin, removal as early as around 3 months may be feasible.
