Frequent blinking in children often stems from various underlying causes. The most common is ocular inflammation—such as keratitis or conjunctivitis—triggered by microbial infections, including viruses, bacteria, or *Chlamydia*. These inflammatory conditions not only increase blink frequency but are also accompanied by symptoms such as ocular pruritus (itching), redness, excessive discharge, and tearing. In such cases, physicians may prescribe topical tobramycin eye drops and 0.1% rifampicin eye drops for treatment. Congenital entropion (inward turning of the eyelid) and trichiasis (misdirected eyelashes rubbing against the cornea) may also cause frequent blinking. Parents can gently evert the child’s eyelid to its normal position and apply adhesive tape to the local skin to provide traction and stabilization, thereby alleviating symptoms. Notably, in some children, increased blink frequency may be associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), requiring joint observation and evaluation by both parents and healthcare professionals.
