How long after uterine fibroid surgery can I eat chili peppers?
Disease description:
I underwent uterine fibroid surgery two days ago and am currently resting with a light diet. I normally enjoy eating spicy food—how long after uterine fibroid surgery can I resume consuming chili peppers?
In most cases, patients may consume chili peppers approximately 30 days after uterine fibroid surgery; however, the timing should ultimately depend on individual recovery status. Chili peppers are highly stimulating and may induce “heatiness” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept referring to symptoms such as sore throat, constipation, or acne), potentially causing significant irritation to the gastrointestinal tract. Following uterine fibroid surgery, the body is relatively weak, requires extended rest, and experiences slowed gastrointestinal motility—increasing the risk of constipation. Consuming “heat-inducing” foods may further elevate this risk.
