Children with benign epilepsy typically exhibit symptoms such as increased salivation, inability to speak, difficulty swallowing, and limb convulsions; a small number of patients may also experience generalized seizures. Patients with benign epilepsy can be treated under medical supervision with oral medications, such as levetiracetam oral solution. During treatment, children should avoid high-risk activities—including swimming and rock climbing—and should also avoid staying up late.
