Why Do Children Develop Benign Epilepsy?
Disease description:
My daughter has recently exhibited abnormal behavior. After a hospital examination, the doctor diagnosed her with benign epilepsy. Therefore, I would like to consult why children develop benign epilepsy.
Benign epilepsy in children may be influenced by parental genetic factors or by environmental exposures during maternal pregnancy that adversely affect fetal development—for example, exposure to secondhand smoke. Certain medications taken during pregnancy may also trigger benign epilepsy in children. Children diagnosed with benign epilepsy should avoid high-risk physical activities during treatment and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when going outdoors.
