What Are the Symptoms of Meningitis in Children?
Recently, my child was diagnosed with meningitis during a hospital visit. I would like to ask: What are the symptoms of pediatric meningitis?
In children with meningitis, common symptoms include fever, vomiting, irritability and crying, lethargy or dull gaze, and loss of appetite. In daily life, caregivers should pay close attention to the child’s diet—opting for nutrient-rich foods and encouraging increased intake of vegetables and fruits. When going outdoors, appropriate protective measures should be taken, and strenuous physical activity should be avoided. Under a physician’s guidance, antibiotics such as cefixime granules may be used appropriately to suppress the inflammatory response and alleviate symptoms. However, cefixime granules are generally recommended only for children aged six months and older.
