What Are the Symptoms of Pediatric Variant Asthma?
Disease description:
My child has been diagnosed with childhood variant asthma. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with this condition?
The primary symptom of childhood cough-variant asthma is an irritative, non-productive cough. Patients typically experience severe coughing episodes, which often worsen following upper respiratory infections (e.g., the common cold) or exposure to irritants. Diagnostic evaluation can be conducted at a hospital, and under physician guidance, treatment may include inhaled corticosteroids such as triamcinolone acetonide aerosol and bronchodilators such as albuterol aerosol for symptom relief. Additionally, oral montelukast sodium tablets may be prescribed to help control inflammation and support disease recovery.
