Does acute laryngitis in children cause fever?
Disease description:
My son was recently diagnosed with acute laryngitis. A friend mentioned that delayed treatment may easily lead to fever, so I’d like to ask: Does acute laryngitis in children cause fever?
Children with acute laryngitis may develop a fever. Acute laryngitis refers to inflammation of the larynx caused by infection with pathogens such as bacteria. Because young children have relatively immature immune systems, inflammatory mediators can readily disseminate systemically via the bloodstream, and the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center may become dysregulated—both contributing to fever. Under a physician’s guidance, patients may take antibiotics such as cefuroxime tablets to control the inflammation.
