Symptoms of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) with Damp-Heat Pattern
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed an increase in vaginal discharge and a feeling of distension and pain in the lower abdomen. The diagnosis is pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) of the “damp-heat descending” pattern. Therefore, I would like to ask: What are the symptoms of damp-heat-type PID?
Symptoms of descending-type pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) typically include: increased vaginal discharge, purulent discharge, blood-tinged leukorrhea, dyspareunia (painful intercourse) or postcoital vaginal bleeding, low back pain with a sensation of heaviness or downward pressure, abdominal distension and bloating, frequent and painful urination, pruritus vulvae (itching of the external genitalia), bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and coarse, gritty tongue texture.
Patients are advised to seek medical consultation promptly at a hospital for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. The specific pharmacological regimen should be determined based on the attending physician’s evaluation during an in-person visit. Sexual intercourse is strongly discouraged during treatment.
In daily life, maintain good personal hygiene: change undergarments regularly, opting for loose-fitting, breathable fabrics; avoid using sanitary pads unnecessarily; and minimize consumption of cold, spicy, or otherwise irritating foods.
