Induced abortion, diagnostic curettage, and irregular sexual activity can all lead to cervical ectropion. Cervical ectropion is a clinical sign rather than a disease. If cervical inflammation coexists with acute or chronic cervicitis, prompt treatment is required. Chronic cervicitis may be treated with physical modalities such as laser therapy, cryotherapy, or microwave therapy.
