Is recurrent sore throat and pain a sign of AIDS?

Disease description:

I’ve had a sore throat for several days and have been taking medication consistently. I’ve also been drinking plenty of water daily, yet the symptoms keep recurring and never fully resolve. I’m wondering: could recurrent sore throat and pharyngeal swelling be signs of HIV/AIDS?

The above scenario is generally not AIDS. Clinically, many conditions can cause sore throat, such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Treatment typically involves anti-inflammatory medications, along with a light, bland diet. In the absence of high-risk behaviors—such as exposure via blood—HIV infection is highly unlikely, and sore throat is not caused by AIDS. However, if high-risk HIV exposure has occurred, HIV antibody testing can be performed for diagnosis.
