Will there be shadows in the lungs after recovery from pulmonary tuberculosis?

Disease description:

After my colleague recovered from pulmonary tuberculosis last year, a shadow was detected in the lungs during this year’s physical examination imaging. Is it possible to have a lung shadow after successful treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis?

After recovery from pulmonary tuberculosis, shadows typically remain in the lungs. Over time, calcium deposits may develop, forming calcified lesions. Once calcification occurs, the lesion is no longer infectious and causes no damage to the lungs. However, regular follow-up monitoring is still required. If active tuberculosis infection is confirmed, oral anti-tuberculosis medications must be administered; otherwise, the infection may cause harm to the body.
