What Should You Do If Your Baby Develops a Cold and Nasal Congestion During the Postpartum Confinement Period?
Disease description:
My wife just gave birth, and she’s currently in the postpartum recovery period (sitting the month). However, our newborn seems to have a mild cold with nasal congestion. What should we do if a baby develops nasal congestion during the postpartum recovery period?
When infants develop nasal congestion due to a cold, nasal secretions may accumulate. Parents can gently soften and remove these secretions by using a clean cotton swab moistened with water and carefully applying it inside the baby’s nostrils. Additionally, enhanced nursing care and proper warmth maintenance are essential: promptly dress the baby in additional clothing when it is cold, or apply a warm towel to the area around the baby’s nasal bridge. Nasal nebulization therapy may also be administered to the child, which can aid in treatment.
