The former condition commonly occurs in children and is often accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal distension and irregular bowel movements; the latter is associated with high fever, cough, and other symptoms. If fever is present—such as that caused by food retention, common cold, or influenza—and the body temperature exceeds 38.5°C, ibuprofen suspension may be administered for antipyresis. Patients are advised to drink plenty of water and maintain a light diet in daily life.
