Generally, it is acceptable. However, the medication must be administered strictly according to the physician’s instructions. The dosage given to the infant should not be excessive; overdosing may impair liver and kidney function and irritate the gastrointestinal tract, leading to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. It may also elevate serum transaminase levels (indicating liver dysfunction) and increase blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and other markers of renal impairment. Parents should closely monitor their child’s condition.
