Parents may achieve relatively rapid symptom relief and therapeutic effects through dietary therapies—for example, drinking boiled white radish water, stewed pear juice with mushrooms, or chilled snow-pear soup. Meanwhile, the child’s diet should remain light; notably, consuming overly salty or overly sweet foods does not exacerbate coughing. If the cough is caused by infection and oral antibiotic therapy is required, it is advisable to concurrently administer antitussive and expectorant medications—or combine antibiotics with nebulized inhalation therapy as an adjunctive treatment.
