What should I do if my child has a cough and nosebleeds?
Disease description:
The child has had a mild cough recently, and today—unfortunately—experienced a nosebleed. We would like to ask: What should be done if a child develops a nosebleed while coughing?
If the bleeding is minimal, it can be controlled by applying local pressure. If the bleeding is more substantial, prompt medical attention at a hospital is required for hemostasis. Common colds can cause nasal dryness, nasal mucosal congestion and edema, a burning sensation, and rupture of nasal capillaries. For minor epistaxis, pinch the soft, fleshy part of the nostrils (alae nasi) firmly between the thumb and index finger for approximately 10 minutes to achieve hemostasis.
