Medication and dietary therapy: Patients may drink plenty of water, apple water, or pear water, and take expectorant and antitussive medications. Additionally, pneumonia should be carefully monitored—especially if cough persists for 7–10 days. Mycoplasma pneumonia should be considered; even mild respiratory distress in children warrants prompt medical evaluation and anti-infective treatment. Common anti-infective agents include cefixime, amoxicillin, and azithromycin. Furthermore, compound fresh bamboo juice oral liquid and pediatric phlegm-resolving and antitussive granules may also be administered to relieve cough.
