What Causes Blood in the Stool in Children with Indigestion?
Disease description:
My daughter has had a poor appetite and indigestion recently, and yesterday she passed blood in her stool. I would like to understand the possible causes of blood in the stool in children with indigestion.
Caused by inappropriate food intake. If the patient consumes high-protein, high-fat, greasy, or spicy foods, the intestinal mucosa may become damaged, leading to rupture of mucosal capillaries and resulting in streaks of blood in the stool. In infants with particularly sensitive constitutions, ingestion of food allergens may also cause mucoid bloody stools. If significant amounts of mucus and blood are present in the stool—especially if the infant appears lethargy, develops fever or vomiting, or exhibits marked abdominal distension—bacterial dysentery or intussusception should be suspected, and prompt medical evaluation at a hospital is strongly recommended.
