Treatment is generally carried out using medications. Patients may use ibuprofen to reduce fever and apply physical cooling measures—such as wiping the back, armpits, neck, and forehead with lukewarm water—or opt for a warm bath. If the hands and feet feel hot, physical cooling should be performed first; this may subsequently lead to drowsiness and decreased appetite. In such cases, Xiao’er Chiqiao Qingre Granules may be administered.
