Why does my lower back hurt after lying down for a while?
Disease description:
At noon, while preparing to take a nap, Mom remained seated for a prolonged period. After lying down for a short while, she experienced lower back pain. She would like to know the possible cause of this back pain that occurs shortly after lying down.
This condition is typically caused by factors such as a firm mattress or fasciitis. Common causes of the above symptoms include fatigue, an overly firm mattress, or improper sleeping posture. It may also result from chronic lumbar injury due to intense physical activity or from lumbar–dorsal fasciitis. Low back pain can occur when lying down in a cold environment, as cold exposure acts as a trigger. Additionally, some patients present with structural abnormalities of the lumbar spine, such as severe anterior pelvic tilt. Prolonged bed rest may lead to lumbar muscle tension and subsequent low back pain.
