Why Does Taking Warfarin Cause Mouth Ulcers?
Disease description:
I am currently taking warfarin and am concerned about developing oral ulcers. Can warfarin cause oral ulcers?
Warfarin generally does not cause oral ulcers. Its primary adverse effect is bleeding due to overdose, which may be mild or severe. Mild bleeding manifestations include gingival bleeding, epistaxis, ecchymosis, menorrhagia, or melena. Severe bleeding typically involves intra-abdominal hemorrhage or intracranial hemorrhage. Occasionally, patients may experience nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, or skin necrosis.
