Disease description:

I’ve had tinnitus for the past couple of days, but I’m not sure why. Today, a friend mentioned that “internal heat” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept) can also cause tinnitus. I’m unsure whether my tinnitus is due to “internal heat.” My friend suggested using ofloxacin ear drops—do ofloxacin ear drops treat tinnitus?

Ofloxacin ear drops are generally ineffective for treating tinnitus. Ofloxacin ear drops belong to the class of antibiotics and possess analgesic, anti-edematous, and anti-inflammatory properties. They are primarily indicated for the treatment of conditions such as otitis media and scleritis. Therefore, they typically offer no therapeutic benefit for tinnitus—especially for sensorineural tinnitus. Patients are advised to visit a hospital for relevant examinations and receive targeted treatment based on the diagnostic findings.
