Multiple cervical nabothian cysts are primarily associated with chronic cervicitis. Normally, the cervical surface contains varying numbers of glandular orifices, and these glands secrete mucus normally. When the glandular orifices remain unobstructed, the secreted mucus can drain naturally into the vagina. However, if inflammation causes closure of the glandular orifices, the secreted mucus cannot be discharged, leading to accumulation and local cystic dilation on the cervical surface—manifesting as multiple, variably sized, bubble-like structures known as multiple cervical nabothian cysts.
