Does enlarged cervical lymph nodes indicate nasopharyngeal carcinoma?
Disease description:
I’ve noticed swelling in the lymph nodes of my neck and am concerned it might be caused by nasopharyngeal carcinoma—could this be the case?
Patients with cervical lymphadenopathy may or may not have nasopharyngeal carcinoma. If nasopharyngeal carcinoma or similar conditions are present, symptoms may include not only cervical lymphadenopathy but also dyspnea and fever. Isolated cervical lymphadenopathy, however, may result from lymphadenitis. Patients experiencing any of the above symptoms should seek prompt medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital.
