Can nasal polyps in children resolve spontaneously?
Disease description:
Recently, my baby has had a runny nose, nasal discharge, and severe nasal congestion. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, the doctor diagnosed it as pediatric nasal polyps. I would like to ask: Can pediatric nasal polyps be cured?
Pediatric nasal polyps rarely resolve spontaneously. They typically result from chronic inflammatory stimulation, leading to mucosal hyperemia, edema, hyperplasia, and prolapse within the nasal cavity. These changes cause nasal obstruction, facial pressure, pain, and other symptoms. On examination, a white, fleshy mass is usually observed inside the nasal cavity. If such symptoms are noted, prompt medical evaluation and diagnosis at a hospital are essential. Treatment may include corticosteroid medications prescribed by a physician; however, definitive management often requires surgical removal.
