Does having oily earwax necessarily mean one has bromhidrosis (body odor)?
Disease description:
My husband has oily earwax, but he wasn’t aware of it. A friend mentioned that this may be associated with axillary osmidrosis (body odor). Does having oily earwax necessarily mean one has axillary osmidrosis?
Patients with oily earwax do not necessarily develop bromhidrosis (body odor). Oily earwax may result from factors such as frequent consumption of high-fat foods. Bromhidrosis, on the other hand, is often caused by genetic factors and can be treated concurrently with surgical removal of the apocrine sweat glands, which aids in recovery. In daily life, proper wound care at the surgical site is essential.
