What should I do if my two-year-old baby has hardened earwax in the ear?
Disease description:
Today, while cleaning my two-year-old baby’s ears, I noticed a large amount of hardened earwax inside. What should I do if my two-year-old has hardened earwax in the ear?
For a two-year-old child with impacted earwax, normal saline irrigation of the ear canal may be performed under a physician’s guidance to maintain local cleanliness and hygiene. If symptoms are severe, medications such as sodium bicarbonate ear drops may also be used—under medical supervision—to soften the earwax and prevent injury to the external auditory canal mucosa during earwax removal. Routine ear cleaning (e.g., using cotton swabs or other tools) should be avoided in daily life.
