After removal of impacted cerumen, avoid cleaning the ear canal with your fingers or sharp objects. If signs of infection are present, irrigation with normal saline or sodium bicarbonate solution should be performed under a physician’s guidance. Maintain good ear hygiene in daily life, and avoid water exposure to the ears in the short term to prevent worsening of infection.
