Diuretics may cause hyperlipidemia. Prolonged use of diuretics can adversely affect lipid metabolism in the body, and some patients may develop hyperlipidemia as a result. This is primarily due to drug-related side effects associated with frequent diuretic use—not only hyperlipidemia but also conditions such as hypokalemia.
